doctorcushing.com is the website of Dr. Frank Cushing and Dr. Kyle Cushing, clinical psychologists who have over 35 years experience in providing caring, quality mental health evaluation and treatment services to people in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. The Doctors own and operate the Glenwood Testing Center, a comprehensive psychological testing, assessment and evaluation firm that offers testing services to all ages from 18 months to senior citizens. Children, adolescents and adults can be tested for all mental health, educational, vocational and legal reasons.
Drs. Cushing do extensive psychological testing with children including evaluations to determine the possible presence and extent of attention deficits (ADD/ADHD), learning disabilities, academic problems, developmental delays, behavioral, personality and emotional problems. Testing to determine children's needs in the area of academic accommodations (504 Plan) and special education programming (Individual Educational Plan--IEP) is also available. Testing to assess risk or potential for anger or violence is also offered. The psychologists (one of whom is a certified school psychologist) also are experienced in assessing for possible educational neglect and in preparation for special education manifestation hearings and have testified at such hearings.
Comprehensive psychological testing of adults is also offered and includes assessments in forensic psychology including criminal issues: insanity, fitness for trial, competency to waive Miranda or to confess, death penalty evaluations, and sex offender risk assessments and likelihood of recidivism.
Civil forensic evaluations are also completed in the areas of child custody/visitation, termination of parental rights, psychological injury on the job, or from a motor vehicle or other accident including PTSD. Civil cases involving the need for a psychological autopsy can also be accommodated.
Evaluations to assess the parenting abilities of prospective or current foster parents, or those seeking to adopt children as well as parental surrogacy evaluations are also performed.
Vocational testing is also offered including career interests and abilities as well as worker's compensation and vocational disability evaluations.
Assessment of police and public safety and law enforcement personnel is also offered in all areas including candidate screening, promotions and fitness for duty.
Neuropsychological evaluations, that assess possible deterioration in cognitive functioning including dementia and Alzheimer's and effects of traumatic brain or head injury, are also offered.
Evaluations to determine an individual's competence and appropriateness for guardianship are available.
Behavioral Medicine services, including evaluations to determine a patient's psychological readiness for procedures including bariatric or gastric bypass surgery and the insertion of a pain pump, are also available. Pain management and evaluation and treatment of somatoform disorders including restless leg syndrome and other factitious disorders are additional services offered.
Evaluation and treatment of impaired professionals is also available.
Individual and family counseling and psychotherapy is also offered to help with depression, anxiety reduction and stress management, post traumatic stress disorder, management of children's behavior, blending step families, and sexuality and intimacy issues.
Marriage counseling through the doctors' Divorce Prevention enterprise is also available. Drs. Cushing also offer anger management training and assessment and treatment of domestic violence victims and perpetrators.
Sex specific treatment and evaluation of sex offenders that identifies, measures and treats deviant sexual arousal and sexual deviancies including exhibitionism, pedophilia, voyeurism, sadism or masochism are also available.
Drs. Cushing also offer Sport Psychology services to child, high school, college, professional and recreational athletes to enhance performance and increase focus and commitment to achieve athletic potential and goals.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENT SERVICES:
Comprehensive psychological assessment for behavior problems - anxiety, depression, ADD & ADHD, and issues with anger.
School and achievement problems due to attention deficits, problems with peers and academic problems including learning disabilities or developmental delays.
Family distress including problems related to child management issues, divorce, sibling rivalry, separation, custody and foster care, as well as parenting conflict issues.
Issues related to physical and sexual abuse. Providing a safe atmosphere for processing of and dealing with abuse and education related to appropriate boundaries and how to protect oneself from future abuse.
FAMILY SERVICES:
Comprehensive counseling for disruptive family patterns, such as screaming, anger, negative communication, anxiety and discouragement.
Drug and alcohol use by adolescents, experimentation with peers, isolating, falling grades and increased stress in the home.
Inappropriate sexual boundaries within the family and/or sexual acting out by family members.
Blending families, accepting custody agreements, divorce related grief and anger.
ADULT SERVICES:
Comprehensive counseling for emotional or psychological distress due to depression, trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, loss, anger, discouragement and lack of motivation.
Marital or Relationship Issues-Rebuilding healthy communication, resolving conflict and improving intimacy.

Specialized assessment and counseling for victims and perpetrators of physical, psychological or sexual abuse including sex specific or sex offender evaluation and treatment.

Problems related to career or workplace frustration, vocational stress, burnout and on the job conflict.
Disability determination evaluations including Social Security Disability, Fitness for Duty evaluations, and Impaired Professional assessments.
